THE 2009 GULF COAST GREEN GULF COAST GREEN STUDENT COMPETITION
REINVENT HOUSTON
SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES
The purpose of the competition is to showcase ideas, whether solving a problem, proposing a product or bridging a gap, that promote sustainable communities in Houston.
PROTOTYPE
Each team will show documentation of their urban design at three different scales. One of these scales must be presented in physical model form. Each entry must create one or two posters (max 36” x 48”) to illustrate the concept.
MATERIALS
Prototypes must be constructed using 95% post-consumer waste.
TEAMS
Currently enrolled college or university students from any state bordering the Gulf Coast may enter. Teams may be composed of 1-4 people.
FEE
Competition entry is free. $25 per student team member to attend the conference.
SCHEDULE
February 1 - April 1: Online registration. Teams must submit a 250 word description of the project.
April 16, 8:00 - 10:00 AM: Teams deliver their prototypes and posters to the Gulf Coast Green Symposium at Reliant Arena in Houston, Texas. Entries will be judged by a committee.
April 17, 12:00 - 2:00 PM: Winners announced.
April 17-19: Winning projects on display at the Gulf Coast Green Expo.
AWARDS
A grand prize will be awarded to the entry determined to be most innovative, thoughtful and unique.
